Godots, named after the Samuel Beckett play “waiting for Godots” was one of the first Bar/Restaurants to open in Praia da Luz in the Algarve and was set up by two americans (David Sharpe and André Dehavenon) in 1969.
David Sharpe was a well know New York Barman and the Bar/American Style Grill was a copy of “Bradley’s” in Greenwich Village.
The Bar/Restaurant has been in the same family since 1974 and recently was given a new lease of life when it was modernised and established as a Tapas/Music Bar in september 2009. Many of the features are original artworks by the owner Joanna Barnes who is a Ceramic Artist.
Godot’s is now a popular place both with the Praia da Luz locals and holidaymakers.
Come and have a drink in our comfortable relaxed lounge bar or on the sea view terrace. And why not try one of our delicious tapas, like black bean and chorizo chilli? (Tapas is not available in the winter months)
We have special entertainment most nights of the week, please have a look at the “Coming up” page if you like live music, karaoke or quizzes. Andy’s love of music mean’s you will always hear some really good sounds, embracing all decades and styles. This is reflected in the calibre of Live Music as we are honoured to have some of the best the Algarve has to offer.
